However, your body actually gives you signals when you are stressed out, and that means you should take a break.
Here are some of the signs of stress:
6 Signs That You Are Under Heavy Stress
1. Urge for Sugar
According to studies when someone is under pressure they find consolation in junk food and sweets. But as we all know that is not good for your body and may lead to weight gain, which shall add additional stress to your life.
It is definitely a cycle that you must avoid. So if you feel the urge to treat yourself, think that is the stress and not really the hunger. So, try to calm down and see if you still want to eat or not!
2. Frequent Headaches
Is headache part of your life? If the answer is yes, you definitely need to take some action, because this is not a normal condition. Factors that contribute and trigger headaches are a lack of exercise, working overtime, skipping meals, insomnia, and many others.
If you have a headache that is constant especially around your temples, this may be a result of unhealthy lifestyle or a weak heart. Make sure you consult your doctor if experiencing constant headaches.
3. Intense Menstrual Cramps
Every woman knows what it feels like to have menstrual cramps during their period. Some women have cramps every period, some have it occasionally, but there are also women that don’t have them at all.
If you are not used to having menstrual cramps, and out of sudden you have dreadful menstrual cramps, you should bear in mind that they may be results of stress. Stress can cause hormonal imbalance which in turn can lead to spasms and cramps.
4. Nightmares and Weird, Confusing Dreams
Believe it or not, but dreams may be a sign of stress. Dreams are linked to your subconscious and actually interpret your physical and mental state.
According to studies when you sleep better, your dreams are good and positive, which leads to good mood once you wake up. But on the other hand, if due to stress you sleep less, that can lead to nightmares and dreams that you may find confusing and strange.
So, if you have a period of nightmares and bad dreams, maybe it`s high time you take a break and relax, in order to sleep well the following night.
5. Dry Mouth
We have all experienced this condition. The most usual situation that most people can relate is when you have public speech or presentation, you experience dry throat and mouth.
How does that work? Well, imagine you have a public speech, and as normal you are under pressure. What happens is that your body diverts body fluids and blood that supply sugar, nutrients, and oxygen thus speeding up the respiratory and cardiac systems. The lack of blood in the body causes reduction of saliva in your mouth which in turn makes it dry.
6. Frequent Visits to the Doctor
If you need to see your doctor anytime you feel sick, this may be an indication of stress which brings about all that exhaustion. When under pressure, your body secretes cortisol or the so-called stress hormone.
Cortisol can help in rare situations, but if you are constantly stressed it is definitely helpless. When cortisol stops working in your body, it can cause a cough, sore throat and frequent sessions of fever.
