8 Auyrvedic Techniques to Treat Inflammation and Rheumatoid Arthritis



When the white blood cells in the body flare up in order to protect the rest of the body from an infection that is when we have inflammation.

However, sometimes in diseases that are autoimmune like arthritis what happens is that the immune system flares up and leads to inflammation even in cases where there is no invading body in order to signal the need for inflammation.

1. Cilantro, Coriander and Fennel

As a proper anti-inflammatory meal, you can cook chickpeas with turmeric. And also toss coriander, pomegranates, cilantro, and cashews.

2. Have a Stress Diary

The Ayurvedic medicine treats the problems at its source and core. You can record the time you feel that you are under stress.



In times when you are stressed, the immune system triggers a response that is inflammatory. Find out what is the cause for your stress.

That is how you can try to lower the triggers, and with that, you can reduce the inflammation. Note the way your body responds to the stress and record the time you notice the inflammation.

To be more clear, for example, if your body responds after drinking milk that means that you might have one of the common allergies of food. Usually, that is to lactose, soy, and gluten.

3. Ride Bike, Practice Yoga or Swim

For people that have chronic inflammation it is recommended to do some moderate exercise that will be soft on their joints. Moderate activities are biking, yoga, and swimming.

You should set a goal to exercise 5 times per week. It is your choice whether you will exercise in the morning or in the evening. You can exercise according to your daily schedule.

Exercise in the time of the day when you are sure you won’t have to hurry to be done with the workout.

4. Turmeric

The turmeric is a class herb as a traditional remedy. It is very well known for its anti-inflammatory properties.

According to studies, it is more efficient for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, then is for the use as pharmaceutical medications.

You can add it in curries, while making eggs or just dissolve it in warm milk.

5. Self-massage

In order to decrease the inflammation, you can massage yourself and at the same time relax. On a daily basis, you can do this for at least 10 minutes. You can rub the achy muscles or sore joints.

Do that with around 210 ml that is ½ cup of coconut oil, or you can use warm sunflower oil. The best time to do it is right before you are going to take a shower or a warm bath.

6. Ginger

It might be effective in reducing the stiffness in the morning, increase the joint mobility, and decrease the swelling, and relieve pain.

You can consume it by drinking ginger tea early in the morning or as soon as you get up.

7. Sleep

Good sleep is essential for the overall health. If you are not well rested, your body won’t be able to restore and to repair itself.

This can also lead to an overdrive of the immune system during the hours you are awake. And with the overdrive that might lead to inflammation.

In order to reduce inflammation sleeping 7 to 8 hours a per night is a must.

8. Yogurt

Around 60 to 70 % of the immune system is in the gut. This is a reason good enough to start taking care of your gut, in order for it to be healthy.

An inflammatory response can be triggered if the gut is upset or not in balance.

You can maintain your gut and make sure that is healthy with probiotics like yogurt.

In the Indian Communities that practice Ayurvedic medicine, the remedies mentioned above have been successful for more than 3,000 years.
